The Beautiful Filipina Singles, Who And What They Are

Today’s Filipina singles comprise women who are endowed with innate strength, natural charm, unique beauty, generosity and warmth. She is the epitome of a competitive spirit, a brave heart, a conscientious hard worker and a trusted ally and partner. In good and bad times, Filipina singles never falter in whatever they put their heart and mind into, be it in friendship and loyalty, work and honesty, career ambitions, as well as in building and sustaining good relationships.
As a daughter and sibling, the Filipina single can be trusted to help her immediate family in any way she can, whether in helping send a sibling to school, manage a family business or simple things like keeping company and helping aging parents at home. While this seems a peculiar set-up for those unfamiliar with the family culture, to the Filipina singles, this comes naturally. In a way, this normal attachment to her family and the duties she freely tenders to respond to a variety of family needs singularly prepares her for her own future marriage and family life.
Trust a Filipina single to always remain cheerful and resilient. Such are common traits among all Filipinos, anywhere and in whatever circumstances you may find them in. But this does not make her any less serious in some aspects of life. On the contrary, the Filipina single is a mixture of smartness, grit and compassion. This can gleaned from her choice of profession like nursing, where she has become well-known to excel in other countries like the US and England. The demand for Filipina nurses abroad clearly shows how she can successfully combine intelligence, nurturing character and conscientious working habits.
Filipinas working overseas do not lose a beat about their families back home, and whom they continue to help financially.
At best, the Filipina single is a person to reckon with. A unique woman whose natural attributes and characteristics make her a heroin all her own.

Beauty Of The Filipina Bride

The Filipina bride is radiant and beautiful. Filled with love and full of hope, she is a profile of loyalty for her man and exudes confidence in the future of their life together.
Walking down the aisle is one of the biggest dreams of a typical Filipina woman. Fulfilling that dream and becoming a bride make for a wonderful chapter in a Filipina bride’s fairy-tale romance. Exchanging solemn vows with her chosen partner in life is believed to be one the most exciting threshold dramatic part of a Filipina woman’s life. No wonder then that most Filipina brides would go extra lengths to look her best at her wedding day.
It is not uncommon to find a Filipina bride personally attending to all the details and meticulous arrangements of her most important day, the altar date. From the motif of the wedding to the seating arrangements at the reception hall to the choice of her make-up artist to the design and distribution list of her wedding invitations, the Filipina bride will insist on everything, and rightly so. After all, it is her most awaited and cherished day of her life. A new chapter indeed that must begin brightly and what better way to make it so than to pursue it with her own personal touch and total involvement.
In some cases, however, the Filipino groom also assists his Filipina bride-to-be in most of the wedding preparations, even sharing the exhilarating stress and emotional whirlwind that go with it. Not surprisingly on the wedding day itself, the Filipina bride is easily the most anticipated character of all, and truly the most beautiful.

Filipina Dating Customs, Then And Now

The Filipina dating customs have taken on a transition of sorts since the Spanish time up to the present times. Dating, romantically construed, makes for a serious definition for the typical Filipina, especially in the earlier times. It usually means serious courtship.
Then, when a Filipina dated, a horde of chaperones normally composed of her relatives and friends accompanied her and her suitor in plain outings. And when the courtship ends in marriage, both families of the lady and the prospective groom create a unity of one large, extended family.
But now Filipina dating has taken on a whole different meaning. Filipina dating is sort of more relaxed, less traditional and unrestrictive. Although the traditional Filipina and most modern-day Filipina still share the common characteristics of simplicity, congeniality and perceptiveness, the latter has now evolved to assimilate certain attributes brought about by modern Western culture.
Filipina dating has now unfold in such practices as unchaperoned outings, cocktail or weekend parties, dinner or lunch dates, bar stops or even blind enounters. The emerging fad, moreover, is on-line dating where the modern cyber technology has made it easier for the Filipina to choose, from among thousands, literally, of prospective dating partners.
Clearly, Filipina dating continues to evolve and enables the Filipina to have the better prospects of knowing and choosing a romantic partner. While Filipina dating has become proactive and more open these days, her charming and sweet personality continues to make Filipina dating spontaneous and memorable.

Filipina Motherhood Makes A Complete Woman

When somebody says that motherhood makes a woman complete will likely find it more apt in the Philippines than anywhere else. Filipina motherhood is a serious yet a very special attribute and gift to a woman. While the role can be difficult sometimes, the sense of fulfillment it gives a Filipina can be a truly amazing experience.
From the birth of her children to the time they become adults and begin to spread their own wings to face the world on their own, children at their various stages test the natural strength and nurturing ability of a typical mother.
Filipina motherhood is also about being the first spiritual guide, moral advocate, primary mentor, a child psychologist, an artist, fierce protector, nurse, doctor and front-line cheerleader all rolled into one for and because of her children. The tasks and responsibilities which motherhood entails make her a better person.
For despite having to wake up in ungodly hours to nurse her child, she learns patience. A child with difficult eating habits forces her to be creative. An engagingly inquisitive child on the other hand, enhances her mentoring skills. An impatient child transforms her into a child psychologist.
And for all the little frustrations, fears and seemingly unending responsibilities of motherhood, the overwhelming and unconditional love for her children is at the core of a Filipina mother’s heart. Filipina motherhood is a never-ending story between a Filipina mother and her children. One’s existence defines and nurtures the other’s. Filipina motherhood indeed makes a Filipina woman complete.

Filipina Dating Sites Have Opened New Doors For Romance

This is a time when people connect people fast and easy. Through the internet, information gets transmitted and received over long distances at the speed of light. And with it people easily find a global audience with whom they share ideas, make decisions, reach agreements, close deals or find romance. Today, the cyberworld teems with Filipina dating sites and have opened counless doors for Filipinas who are searching for romance.
Philippine dating sites normally feature stories and photos of Filipinas or Filipino females. Beginning in the early 1990’s, more and more Filipinas with ages ranging from 16 to 50 years old have met men from Europe, the United States, South Korea, Japan and the Middle East countries through these sites. The common belief is that more than half of these Filipinas intend to marry, and often do end up in marriage, with their online dates, email mates or chat mates. These sites are thriving and have given occasion to the growing phenomenon of inter-racial marriages in the country.
The other side of why Filipina Dating Sites are catching on world wide is largely due to the charm, inner beauty and cheerful disposition of Filipinas. They live up to everyone’s expectations. They are as excellent as Filipina dating sites tell people they are. One American male who ended up marrying a Filipina once commented that aside from their unique Asian beauty, Filipinas are sweet, sexy and really love their men with passion.

The Filipina Wife As Light Of The Home (Ilaw Ng Tahanan)

The Filipina wife has many beautiful facets that many husbands can attest to. She is the devoted partner and loyal ally of her husband in all aspects of their marriage. While she remains the hands-on parent for her children, she also often helps her husband earn needed income to meet the family’s daily basic needs.
This was not the case some decades ago. Before, the wife was totally stay-at-home. She had to ensure that the family home was neat and tidy; the meals ready at the table; the clothes clean, crisp and dry; the children did well in their studies; and the general order at home was maintained. The Filipina wife used to be a reserved and religious woman; a good housekeeper and budget planner; a devoted and loyal partner to her husband; and a doting mother if strict mentor to her children.
Even as most of these characteristics of the typical Filipina wife remain manifest especially in the countryside where people are generally conservative and families are patriarchal, these days the contemporary wife is almost co-equal in social status with that of the husband. The Filipina wife now shares the burden of providing for the family needs by engaging in livelihood or getting regular employment.
In some cases a domestic helper takes the housekeeping role of the wife, but often the wife still has her say in organizing the entire household. And while Filipino children are normally trained to help get the household chores done, the overall responsibility for managing the household still rests with the Filipino wife and mother.
It is therefore not surprising that the Filipino wife came to be known as “multi-tasker” and “superwoman” here and abroad. And even if her multi-roles can sometimes get overwhelming, the Filipina wife remains generally strong and a proud woman. She draws her strength from her love for the family. After all, she is the one and only “ilaw ng tahanan” (light of the home).

Food Culture Is What Makes Them Filipino

Filipino food culture comes as part and parcel of Filipino life. It speaks both about their uniqueness and diversity as a people. Most regions or provinces are known for one or several types of food or for the distinctive taste of their home-cooked food.
Bicolanos for example are known for a variety of food preparations that go with lots of chili and other spices. People from Northerm Luzon take pride in pinakbet (mixed vegetables) and in their exotic menu. In Central Luzon, delicious confections and kakanin (snack foods and sweets) are hard to resist. The rest of Luzon and Tagalog region are known for their spicy kaldereta and kare-kare (meat and entrails with vegetables and many other spices), paksiw and adobo (fish and meat boiled with vinegar, among other ingredients).
In the Visayas and Mindanao, food preparations with coconut milk are common. Also in many parts of the country and Visayas in particular, occasions like birthdays, weddings, baptisms, family reunions and the like do not seem complete without lechon or roasted pig or roasted chicken.
Statistics have been shown that the more well off people are, chances are higher that wheat-based bread, instead of rice, becomes the staple food. But in the Philipinnes and wherever Filipinos may be found abroad, an ordinary Filipino meal would basically still consist of fish and rice. The essence of this menu has sustained Filipinos for generations after generations. A dish with rice and fish, along with other sets of menu perfected in various parts of the country, is what makes it Filipino.

Filipino Friends: Who And What They Are

Filipino friends are often considered extended members of a typical Filipino family. Since Filipinos are known for being friendly and clannish, friends of any member of a household are always welcome in most family occasions like dinners, parties and outings or vacations.
It then becomes natural for friends to call each others’ parents “tita” and “tito” or even Papa or Mama or Tatay or Nanay as if they are their friends’ parents own children. Children also have no qualms about sharing or seeking advise from their friends’ parents on varied matters whenever they feel uncomfortable telling their own parents about them.
Filipino friends normally maintain close association. They spend a lot of time together. The young ones, after school, often spend more time after school to play games or just hang around the campus or at each other’s homes either to study together or play video or outdoor games. Weekends are often spent together as well.
The professionals, on the other hand, often seek one another on weekends or specially-designated get-together weekdays after work. Special occasions like birthday parties are also venues for catching up on missed stories about how other relatives or friends are doing.
Filipino friends are fiercely loyal and protective of one another. They are generous with time and resources. They share intimate secrets and often have the same interests or level of intellectuality. They are likely to come from similar social backgrounds, family and individual orientations, sets of values and beliefs. Their friendship goes beyond physical borders and distances.

The Filipino Women In Marriage: How The Wife And Mother Evolved

Generations past–the Filipina wife was the typical docile, sweet and unassuming person behind the hardworking, conscientious and more dominant household figure that was her husband. In those simple days when life was less hard and households were typically patriarchal in nature, the Filipina wife and mother took the roles deemed supportive of that of her husband. Filipino marriage that defined a couple then seemed uncomplicated, ordinary and down-to-earth.
Several decades later, transformation in the household became more and more apparent. Stemmed by the increasing recognition of the talents and skills of the Filipino women, the subservient wife evolved and so has the Filipino marriage customs and landscape. Two things gave rise to the evolution. One is basically economic in nature.
The wife took on the role as an equal partner of her husband in providing for the basic needs of the family, such as by engaging in livelihood herself. The other is the growing attention given to her as a potent force, not only within the confines of the home but as partner in community building as well.
While we can still see some of these women dutifully performing their roles as wife and mother at home, they now occupy better positions as working professionals and as co-provider for the family. Her role in the Filipino marriage now expands from being a mere cook, dishwasher, moral and spiritual mentor to her kids, as well as supporter of her husband as he seeks his fulfillment. She has emerged as an empowered person aware of her own talents and dreams.

Quirks And Perks Of Filipino Romance

There is nothing significantly peculiar or odd in the scene of Filipino romance, but being natural romantics, the Filipino men and women have exceptional and even unique ways and habits of showing their affection for someone they sincerely desire.
In the not-so-distant past, Filipino men would serenade their lady love either alone or in the company of friends on any given night, although a serenade when the moon is full was deemed most romantic. Men normally choose kundiman or local ballads for these magical occasions. They belt them out with gusto and emotion right on the doorstep of the lady’s house. If she and her family consent to the wishes of the serenading prince, he earns the good graces of her home and may propose from there.
These days, however, pre-occupied by a fast-paced life and uninhibited by a less conservative society, Filipino romance has taken on new dimensions. While serenading no longer exists, at least in the urban areas, Filipino romance has applied variety in its approaches. Dating is fashionable and displays of affection are publicly flaunted. With faster means of communication via mobile phones and the internet, Filipino romantic relationships can now grow from a whirlwind courtship.
Filipino romance flourishes when sustained by loyalty, commitment, trust and open communication. Filipino women are sensitive and fiercely loyal to their partners. They expect their partners to be re-assuring and provide emotional security to their romantic relationship. And with these they offer enduring bond of a partnership based on love.

Filipino Values That Bind The Family

There are unique values and traits that make and bind a Filipino family. Prominent among them is the way Filipinos address each other. There is, for example, the traditional use of “po” and “opo” as a sign of reverence to older family members by the younger ones.
Similarly, younger siblings address an older female sibling with “ate”, and an older male sibling with “kuya”. Kissing the hand of an elder is also a common greeting and considered uniquely Filipino. Respect for elders is manifest wherever there are Filipinos, even abroad.
Other Filipino values worth noting are seen during Sundays. Household members wear their best dress as they attend church services together. Most families later take leisure time together, like relaxing at the park, malling, watching a movie, eating out or just playing the favorite family game or sports, all in the spirit of fun and bonding. Many adult males are also cockfight aficionados.
While the fast-paced life has made it more difficult for the family to spend time together at the dinner table, some parents still believe this is one valued practice that should never be lost. Having meals together provides opportunities for interaction among family members. Here they discuss and share daily experiences, like updates on the parents’ work or on the kid’s school activities.
Children are not expected to leave home even in their early adulthood. Because Filipino families put great value in education, older children who earn incomes are expected to help pay for household expenses, including the education of younger siblings. Children try to keep the company of their aging parents even when they have families of their own. Being clannish is a common Filipino family value. Special occasions like weddings, fiestas, Christmas, baptism or death in the family usually bring families and clans together.

The Rise Of Filipino Women

Filipino women are gifted with beauty, intelligence, sensitivity and generosity of heart. They are reliable, protective, conscientious and committed as a friend, mother, wife and worker. While most Filipino women were taught at a young age to be good at domestic chores and housekeeping, they nevertheless grew up to value good education.
They are socially well versed. They also can be creative in many ways, from coming up with a good home-cooked meal on a tight budget, to being able to present work-related innovations, or to being organizers of social events.
As an adult with incomes of her own, a Filipino woman never hesitates to extend assistance to other family members in need, like caring for parents with advancing age, sending a sibling to school, and sharing in the household expenses. She, too, can be trusted with family heirlooms, family livelihood or to carry family traditions onto the next generation when she begins her own family life.
As a wife, a Filipino woman excels as a housekeeper. She can be counted on to help her husband provide for family sustenance. And she remains the ever sensitive and responsible mother, keeping close watch over the upkeep of her children.
As professionals, Filipino women bask in a variety of disciplines such as education, social welfare, arts and culture, entertainment, medicine and, yes, even politics. She can be as good or even better than her male counterpart in careers where sensitivity, creativity and charm are put in harness. Truly, Filipino women have shown they can succeed not only as housekeepers but also as partners of nation-building.

Filipina Penpal - Where Love Begins

As a webmaster of a Filipina Penpal and dating site, I’m amazed at some member’s relationship mentality. For whatever reason, they view online dating as a jump from meeting to instant marriage without any courtship. This is not the road to take for a successful marriage, be it you meet at an online dating site or your local church.

Most initial contact is based on physical attraction. However, I recommend to members of my site to start out as penpals and act accordingly. No sexual innuendos, no promises, no commitments -- take your time getting to know each other and see where it leads. Relationships based solely on looks is usually a recipe for disaster. I’m not saying attraction is not important, but it isn’t the sole criterion to sustaining a long and happy marriage. There has to be more to a relationship than the way he or she looks, but also on what he or she has in common.

Online dating to some is an avenue to circumvent the courtship process. They see someone online, exchange a few emails, and instantly declare love. In a traditional dating scenario you don’t usually declare love after a few dates. Why should online dating be any different? The courting process after meeting someone online should be similar to traditional dating. There is an attraction, you exchange emails, and if interest is sparked you flirt, communicate, and even do a version of traditional dating through online chats, phone calls and spending time getting to know each other. Online dating is not an environment where marriage success is magically guaranteed with a “hello” to a “I do” without involving the courting process.

Taking the penpal approach to meeting someone online, may help keep your behavior in check. I’m amazed when a gentleman is flirting with a lady within the first or second email. This person is usually trying to circumvent the courtship process and in doing so is asking for problems. Many who flirt when flirting is not appropriate, is the type of person a hustler is looking for. Keeping your words appropriate for the stage of the relationship you are in and by starting out as penpals, may be your safest and best approach to finding true love.

If you are in a hurry or feel you don’t have time to waste looking for love, you need to rearrange your priorities or in the long run you may waste a lot more time in divorce court or involved with an unhappy marriage. Do yourself a favor -- be a penpal first and let the stages of courtship develop naturally. If you are as lucky as I was, not only will you find true love, but also a best friend for life.

Filipina Lady - Who is She

A Filipina Lady strives to fulfill her dreams, she is kindhearted, shows respect to both young and old, she laughs, she cries, she triumphs, she fails, but she will always stand up, and say I'm a Filipina. I'm proud of where I came from, I'm proud of my country, I'm proud of being a Pinay, I'm proud to be a Filipino.

The Philippines has many affinities with the Western world, derived mainly from the cultures of Spain, Latin America, and the United States. After the Japanese were defeated in 1945, the Philippines was granted independence from the United States on July 4, 1946. The Philippines constitutes an archipelago of 7,107 islands with a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers (116,000 sq mi) and is the world's 12th most populous country, with a population of over 85 million as of 2005. The history of the Philippines can be divided into four distinct phases: the pre-Spanish period (before 1521); the Spanish period (1521-1898); the American period (1898-1946); and the post-independence period (1946-present). Many say that the American period had the most influence on today's Filipino. In 1987, the Philippine Constitution was changed to make Filipino and English both the official languages.

Filipina Lady Attraction

Many ask why so many western men are attracted to Filipina Ladies, especially Americans. It is the simplicity of their values with a mixture of American influence that seems to attract most men. In the Asian world, the Philippines is the largest English speaking country. This makes communication easier for men who find the Filipina beauty alluring and friendly. If a man is searching for a non-western lady with Asian values, the language barrier is not a factor when getting to know these ladies. The Philippines is also one of the largest Christian countries in Asia and it is the world's fifth largest Catholic Nation. Because of Western influence, finding common ground with a Filipina Lady can easily be established. However, the Western world is not without its rudeness. A number of Filipina Ladies find derogatory names like "foreign bride" or "mail order bride" being disrespectful to their culture and gender. As one well informed Filipina Lady said: “when it comes to respect and morality the Philippines is not a 3rd world country – the U.S. government. with their imposing will of what they deem is good for the world gets the title of 3rd world ignorance for disrespecting people and their culture."

Filipina Lady Reputation

The Western world of morality as they see fit has insulted many Filipina women. There is an onslaught of Western feminism tying to impose their point of view without knowing her identity, her values, her upbringing, her experiences, and concerns. As usual, it is the government imposing their will backed by political hags that are out of touch of what it takes to survive as an average citizen. Instead of asking the folks who actually have to live life, political ambitions continue to impose what they think is right for the average citizen to further their own political endeavors and wealth. This alienation perpetrates most Filipina Ladies’ reputation in a bad light instead of protecting it. As one Filipina Lady said: “if the government is involved on my behalf, they need to live my life before they impose their will – I”m not forced to do anything I don’t want to do when given free will – only the government forces me to do what I find insulting and unnecessary."

Most Filipina Ladies who join a dating site do so for the right reasons (see Filipina Lady) They may be tagged by politicians and special interest groups as helpless victims, but many find that the ignorance lies within the government policy to take away their individual rights by using the helpless victim tag as a means to promote their own selfish agenda for individual gain. To them the political agenda is obvious, while the vast majority wants and needs are ignored in favor of a few who prostitute their unfortunate story as being the truth of many. Nothing could be so wrong as the government’s unwillingness to talk to those who know the truth and use fabrication to further their agenda and individual wealth. The government could learn a lot about morality from a simple Filipina Lady who knows what is best for her and how to live life.

Filipina Lady – She is

Who is she? An individual with much to offer. Desired for her beauty that is reflected in her character as a person, not as a governmental pawn for political agendas. If you ask her what her agenda may be and you don’t agree, give her respect, give her free will and give her the ability to choose for herself as long as she is not harming others. She may be many things to many people, but let her decide who she wants to be. She is Filipino, a lady from the Philippines that is as proud as any woman from any country whom endearingly is known to most of us as a Filipina Lady.

Looking for a Filipina Girlfriend?

Do you want to date a Filipina girl? If you have Filipina friends then you already know what are Filipina girls like. However, for the benefit of those still searching and looking for a Filipina girlfriend, these are some qualities you would surely like to know.

First, Filipina girls are known for their exotic oriental beauty and sweetness. There are many beautiful Filipinas who are famous worldwide, and have won international awards on beauty contests.
Some very popular Filipina Americans have even made it to Hollywood and American television, like  Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Tia Carrere, Phoebe Cates, Reggie Lee who played Bill Kim in "Prison Break (Season 2)", Victoria Principal of "Dallas", Victoria Recaño of "CSI: Miami", Rob Schneider of "Saturday Night Live", Anna Maria Perez de Tagle who played Ashley from "Hannah Montana", Tamlyn Tomita of "The Joy Luck Club" and "The Karate Kid - Part II", Cheryl Burke who is a participant in "Dancing with the Stars", Vanessa Minnillo and many others.

In the international music industry, there are the likes of Allan Pineda of The Black Eyed Peas, Kirk Hammett who is the lead guitarist for Metallica, Enrique Iglesias, Julio Iglesias Jr., Nicole Scherzinger who is the lead singer for the Pussycat Dolls, and many others. Filipina Americans who were "American Idol" contestants includes Jasmine Trias of American Idol (Season 3), Camile Velasco of American Idol (Season 3), Melinda Lira of American Idol (season 4) and Ramiele Malubay of American Idol (Season 7).  Also the first Asian supermodel in the 1980s who is Anna Bayle, and the famous Hollywood Fashion Designer Monique Lhuillier, who was born and raised in the Philippine province of Cebu, are both Filipina Americans.

Second, Filipina girls are not only beautiful, but are also charming and cheerful. Filipinas have a positive disposition in life making them delightful and friendly.

Third, the Filipina girl is often times conservative about how she conducts herself, particularly in public. A Filipina girl is usually prim and proper in her actions. This is because the Philippines is a country with many old fashioned ways.

In the courtship aspect, a real Filipina from the Philippines will respect her elders, have close family ties, strong religious beliefs, and will take a man seriously if only he is really willing to visit her family and introduce himself formally to her parents. It is considered disrespectful if a man courts a Filipina girl without informing her parents! It could absolutely come as a surprise and add a bit of spice to your American Filipina dating relationship. It would in fact, help keep the Filipina American long distance relationship together.
Although, misunderstandings and hard feelings do happen between two Filipina American hearts living far apart from each other, it is essential to maintain a sense of humor with your partner.

Understanding your partner and knowing each other well should nurture a healthy relationship. In the long run, you will get to know each other more and more.

What to Expect When Marrying a Filipina

What makes Filipina women so right for marriage? If you're thinking about marrying a Filipina, then here are ten reasons why you should do exactly just that.

Filipinas are hospitable. When they have guests over, you can be sure that you are treated like a VIP. They take pride in their homes. For them, building a warm, safe and loving atmosphere is an important part of being a wife. The home is a symbol for them, so screaming or breaking furniture is not really a Filipina's cup of tea.

Filipinas value family. Filipinas give the utmost importance to family. The value of having a loving family has been instilled in the hearts of Filipinas growing up. The family serves as a cornerstone for them. Once committed, the Filipina would put her family first before anything - career, money, or friends. Rest assured that a Filipina will do everything to protect and keep her family together.

Filipinas are God-fearing. More than ninety percent of Filipinos are Christians or Catholics. Usually, Filipino children are brought up going to church or knowing the concept of fearing God. So, most Filipinas are definitely devoted to their religion, using God as their anchor and not money or power.

Filipinas have high regard for marriage. Whether you were married in the church or by a judge, the Filipina will always value the sanctity of marriage. In the Philippines, there is no law for divorce - just annulment or legal separation. This makes sense with a culture that gives utmost worth to matrimony and the union of two souls. Marriage to a Filipina is a life-long commitment - once she sets her heart upon marrying someone, chances are, she will be sticking to him for life. Filipinas think that marriage should not be played around with because it is a gift from God.

Filipinas are educated. Filipinos think that having a good education is as important as eating right. Filipino parents would say that they are blessed when all of their children have graduated college. Filipinas are proud of their accomplishments. Unlike other Asian societies, the Filipinos are open to females doing well in any field - business, medicine or male-dominated fields like engineering or information technology. It is common for Filipinas to juggle both being career women and being homemakers - they do quite a good job at the balancing act.

Filipinas know when to be submissive. They say Asian women are submissive. Filipina women are submissive too - but not all the time. Filipinas know their place when it comes to the household, but they won't be afraid to step up when their family needs it. Filipinas will show you their care and love openly and will provide quiet understanding to their family. Filipinas are very tactful - they know how to be composed especially during social situations. They speak politely and carefully but not without substance.

Filipinas are naturally beautiful. Most Filipinas are a mix of Spanish, Chinese, Malay and other races. The Philippines is a melting pot of different races and that makes a Filipina beautiful and unique.

If you are considering marrying one, these reasons will give you an idea about your future with a Filipina wife. If you are looking for a marriage that you can cherish forever and if you want a loyal companion in life, you'll never go wrong with marrying a Filipina.

Definitive Love - Filipina Lady Dating

Many times, an online dating member wants a very specific and definitive answer to their questions about their relationship. It usually can’t be done. For example they may give a few details and then ask if that person loves them. At best, an online dating webmaster can provide his opinion but he should do so cautiously. If there is one definitive rule about love it is “there are no definitive rules.” Everyone’s circumstances, personality and experiences are different. What may be considered an act of love for one, may not for another.

When two people are interacting, their circumstances and experiences are unique to their interplay. When you meet someone, you are dealing with a unique personality that may or may not connect with yours. A lot of American men believe that foreign women all have the same characteristics and traits. Why is this? For example many believe that all Filipina Ladies are docile and gentle. Believe me; they do not all fit this mold. There may be some identifiable traits that seem to fit one culture more so than another, but to believe that every individual from a certain country have the same characteristics is a mistake. A personality develops from many variables and for an online dating webmaster to know before hand what exactly makes two personalities click, especially when it comes to love, is impossible. Think about it. Their environment and emotional experience is part of what makes them who they are, now add to the mix another person with different experiences and you have a formula that may or may not work. Usually time is the only way to be sure if two people have enough spark to explore each other’s personalities to see if they are a match.

When I met my wife, she had many suitors. A lot of them flowered her with gifts. To some this may mean love. To my wife, it felt as if they were trying to buy her affection. When I met her, we spent hours chatting and getting to know each other. In our conversations she once told me how she loved different tea flavors. One day, I sent her a small gift of different tea flavors in a wooden box. It wasn’t the gift that mattered; it was the fact I was listening that touched her heart. So when someone asks me what is important to a Filipina Lady, I usually tell them that listening is important to finding love, but obviously that was my experience and may not be the key ingredient for all relationships.

The best an online dating webmaster can do is talk about their experiences without any guarantees. There is no way of knowing exactly what makes another person fall in love or why they may reject one person over another. This is especially true when we are talking about cultures that are foreign to yours. In the Western world, men may think looks or material things weigh heavy in their courtship success, while romancing a lady from the East, it may be simple words of kindness that wins her heart. There may not be anything wrong with trying to find a focal point in your search for romance as long as you remember there is an individual beneath any stereotype in your search for love. Keep an open mind and find the individuality that exists in all of us, no matter where they are from.

When meeting someone online, it is still prudent advice to get to know them over time and not jump into an immediate romance. Let time be your ally and don’t let cultural stereotypes be your only guide to finding romance – look into their heart and learn who they are, not what you want them to be. There is no mathematical formula for romance. It begins with two people and usually on the road of discovering each other determines where it goes. If all goes well, the best romantic math is – 1 + 1 = one love, one heart, beating as one. How they found this incredible feeling they may not even understand. They probably don’t even care. All they know is what they feel – love

Illusions of a Filipina Lady Coming to America

Most Filipina Ladies, who meet an American at an online dating site, believe the USA is the land of easy living. It is far from that. Most Americans have to work hard - really hard - to make a living. The cost of living in the U.S. is much higher than most countries so even basic necessities can be quite expensive. It shouldn’t be that way, but because of political greed the average American family has to work hard to survive.

The U.S. is a land that is govern by a body of politicians that have considerable influence over how the average American lives. In today’s political climate, most Americans believe the politicians’ work for large corporations or special interest groups and are not concerned about the individual rights of the average American. Laws are passed to assist corporations or to favor special interest groups that increase the average American’s cost of living and tax burden. Usually politicians try to gift wrap their rhetoric so it sounds as if they are doing an average American a favor but when you read the fine print it is all about self-promoting their career, catering to lobbyists’ whims and taking care of corporate America. Most politicians do what they do to promote their career, not what is best for average Americans.

Shockingly, for the average American necessities are costly. Laws are passed so Americans have to pay lofty fees for insurances that rarely pay back. By law Americans have to pay these insurance premiums while the customer usually has to pay legal fees to get paid for insurance claims that is rightly theirs. This is just one example of where laws are passed to favor insurance companies, special interest groups, and corporations while hard-working Americans’ needs are ignored. Utility CEOs and school administrators live in luxury homes paid by American labor and tax dollars while Americans worry about heating their house for the winter. Politicians’ medical care is paid for by American tax dollar while millions of children are under nourished and suffer medically. Federal judges are appointed for life and are more concerned about political aspirations than individual rights. This is the way of the land and many Americans are tired of it. It is a land of plenty that goes mostly to the privilege paid for by the American tax dollar - OR - laws are passed to subsidize utility and insurance companies’ inept management of resources that are paid for by Americans so they can live better life than most. It isn’t about FREEDOM in America, it is about money. If you have it, you can buy all the freedom you want. With a country as rich as ours who waste millions on useless programs to self promote political careers or to appease special interest groups, no American should have to pay exuberant dollars for the necessities to survive. But we do pay – political greed trumps necessities for living every time.

Middle America is fading away. You are either a hard-working puppet of the political system or part of the privileged who live off the puppet’s hard labor. American caste system is fueled by politicians who put their careers above individual rights and the constitution. It is greed at its best. Andrew Jackson said: “It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes.” This is more true today than ever. I might borrow Jackson’s foresight and say “It is to be regretted that corporate America, special interest groups, lobbyists and politicians bend the acts of government to their own selfish purpose while stomping on the livelihood and individual rights of average Americans. The fact that politicians can give themselves raises of 30, 40 or even 50% while the rest of America goes without and is asked to keep sacrificing isn’t evident of political selfishness and greed, I don’t know what is. Most politicians live in suits and get hair cuts that cost more than a month worth of groceries for average Americans. For a politician to even think they understand the plight of an average American is a joke. If current politicians’ experience is the type of political experience that is governing America than we need less experience and more political empathy for the average American.

There is something wrong with a government that is more concerned about insurance companies than medical needs. There is something wrong with a government that passes’ laws that can take-away individual property in favor of economical greed run by non-trusted politicians. There is something wrong when local and state government is more concerned about Americans paying their sewer and utility bills than passing laws to protect the average American from greedy, utility CEOs. None of the privilege is expected to learn to budget their money or make sacrifices as the average American is expected to do to survive. The privilege simply raises taxes or pass laws to take care of their greed, they don’t budget, cut waste that benefit their careers or know what it means to sacrifice. A politician couldn’t live in my shoes for one month. They couldn’t survive because they wouldn’t have the government, special interest groups, or political favors to bail them out when they couldn’t live within their means. It is wrong and one day America will stand up and shout “enough, we are not ignorant and are wise to your ways.

I can go on about the state of financial survival for the average American, but my point here is that most Filipinas have an unrealistic view of life in America. My wife soon learn that everything is costly and most of the cost is based on political greed be it at local, state or federal government. Americans already pay enough taxes, but inept politicians waste our tax dollars on programs that are NOT necessary to appease special interest groups and provide funding. Taxes never need to be raised, taxes are plenty. We need politicians who get rid of the waste and spend our taxes on what is needed for Americans, not waste our tax dollars on special interest groups, or corporate CEOs. Today Americans don’t’ need a political leader who will pass more laws, but instead we need a leader who will get rid of the waste and corruption that exist in the political environment. Unfortunately politicians simply pass laws to make their corruption legal....most laws are political favors and unnecessarily add to the burden of surviving financially in America.

I once read an article where a politician was criticizing another politician for not authoring new laws. I say we should applaud the politician who doesn’t add to the already over regulated state of affairs in our country. Most laws are passed to put a feather in the politician’s hat, not because of necessity. Most laws are passed to appease special interest groups or corporate America for political campaigns or reelection favors. What is needed is a politician to get rid of laws that waste our tax dollars. What is needed is to outlaw special interest groups and have politicians be elected solely on their merit. Politicians don’t need to raise taxes – what is needed are better politicians.

If a Filipina Lady meets an American man on an online dating site, marry him for the right reasons. Marry him for love and he will work hard to take care of you despite the government favoring the privileged over his sacrifices and the burdens he bears to live in America. If you marry for love, you will survive together and be happy.

Philippine Love - so you Want to Marry a Filipina?

Getting wed to a Philippines lady is a great thing but not always powerful for everyone, it's that old story, a Philippines girl can be all things to a man, but not every Philippines woman can be all things to every man, in other words it's not a good idea to stereotype Philippine girls.

Very often Philippine women are shoved in the same pigeon hole as all other women from the South East Asian countries, such as China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea.

The ladies from these countries, tend to have largely different languages, different religions different cultures, different ways of eating food, the only thing they share is the Pacific Ocean if they can travel to their local beach.

In that sense, if I am honest, I really ought to divert British Men from marrying Philippine girls simply because they are 'Filipina' perpetuated by most mythical notion that Filipina's are wonderful, submissive wives that never answer back, and are fantastic in the bedroom!

So I have set a little test for the prospective husband to see if he really knows anything about his possible future wife, country, culture and customs. There are no fixed answers to the questions, but they will assist you to see beyond the tunnel vision of love.

The Test:

1. Can you find the Philippines on a map?

2. Do you know what is the Capital City of the Philippines?

3. Do you know what are the main regions of the Philippines?

4. Do you know who is the President of the Philippines?

5. Do you know what are the main languages spoken in the Philippines, and your potential wife's local dialogue?

6. Do you know what the main religions practiced in the Philippines?

7. Do you know why various Filipinos have Spanish names?

8. Are you prepared to have children, if so, are you prepared for innumerable children?

9. Are you prepared to provide 'Sustento' (alimony) for your extended Philippine family for education and other expenses, if they need your benefit?

10. Are you fairly tolerant of superstitions?

11. Do you like fish products?

12. Do you know what eating implements are preferred? Chopsticks, cutlery or fingers.

13. Do Filipinos bow to each other?

14. Do you expect your Philippine wife to be submissive and obedient after the marriage?

If they have children they wish to bring with them, and the farther is named on the birth certificate, this can cause further delay and costs.

Remember one very authorized point. A very small minority of Asian girls are out to get hard cash off you nothing else. If a Filipina ever asks for bankroll before you have met, move on, or you will find yourself with more problems you can handle. You can tell a true Filipina, they will NEVER ask for bankroll.

Filipino (Filipina) Wedding Superstitions

Many Filipinos (like most people in the world) adhere to numerous folk beliefs and superstitions. Some are practiced primarily because of an “there's nothing to lose if we comply” attitude while others are totally ignored for they seem downright ridiculous. Here are some of the Filipino wedding superstitions:

  • Brides shouldn't try on their wedding dress before the wedding day or the wedding will not push through.
  • Knives and other sharp and pointed objects are said to be a bad choice for wedding gifts for this will lead to a broken marriage.
  • Giving arinola (chamberpot) as wedding gift is believed to bring good luck to newlyweds.
  • Altar-bound couples are accident-prone and therefore must avoid long drives or traveling before their wedding day for safety.
  • The groom who sits ahead of his bride during the wedding ceremony will be a henpecked husband.
  • If it rains during the wedding, it means prosperity and happiness for the newlyweds.
  • A flame extinguished on one of the wedding candles means the one on which side has the unlit candle, will die ahead of the other.
  • Throwing rice confetti at the newlyweds will bring them prosperity all their life.
  • The groom must arrive before the bride at the church to avoid bad luck.
  • Breaking something during the reception brings good luck to the newlyweds.
  • The bride should step on the groom's foot while walking towards the altar if she wants him to agree to her every whim.
  • A bride who wears pearls on her wedding will be an unhappy wife experiencing many heartaches and tears.
  • Dropping the wedding ring, the veil or the arrhae during the ceremony spells unhappiness for the couple.

Filipino (Filipina) Wedding Customs

Asking for the Girl’s Hand

Pamanhikan
After being a couple with your Filipina for quite a time and decide to cross over from being single to getting married, the first thing you should do is Pamanhikan or ask the girl’s parents for her hand. Pamanhikan is a tradition where the groom and his parents visit the bride's family to formally ask for her hand and to discuss plans for the upcoming wedding over lunch or dinner. It is customary that the the visiting family bring a gift (often, the mother's best home-cooked specialty) for the hosts. Pamanhikan can be a really uneasy situation if it's the first time for both sets of parents to meet; moreover matters like the wedding budget and the guest list have to be discussed.

Wedding Announcement

Pa-alam
Though less formal than the pamanhikan, pa-alam is still a gesture appreciated by Filipino elders as a sign of respect. It is a custom where the couple pays some visits (mostly to elder relatives not present during the pamanhikan) to inform about the upcoming wedding (they may choose to hand over the wedding invitation at this time). Since the “hard time” is over with after the pamanhikan, pa-alam should be a breeze, though some elders may ask about the couple's love story or ask the groom about his work or family background.

Wedding Outfits

Brides wear a white wedding dress that has become popular in the last hundred years or so with America's influence in the Philippines. For men, the barong tagalog is the traditional Filipino formal wear. It is a cool, almost transparent, embroidered shirt, made from silky pina or jusi, two native ecru fabrics. It is worn untucked, over black pants, with a white t-shirt underneath. These days, a Filipino American groom might wear the conventional black tux, but Filipino male wedding guests will usually show up in their finest barongs.

The Wedding Ceremony, the Filipino Way

In pre-colonial days, a wedding ceremony lasted three days. On the first day, the bride and groom were brought to the house of a priest or babaylan, who joined their hands over a plate of raw rice and blessed the couple. On the third day, the priest pricked the chests of both bride and groom and drew a little blood. Joining their hands, they declared their love for each other three times. The priest then fed them cooked rice from the same plate and gave them a drink of some of their blood mixed with water. Binding their hands and necks with a cord, he declared them married.

The majority of Filipino weddings are now Catholic weddings, but some native traditions remain. Most have special "sponsors" who act as witnesses to the marriage. The principal sponsors could be godparents, counselors, a favorite uncle and aunt, even a parent. Secondary sponsors handle special parts of the ceremony, such as the candle, cord and veil ceremonies. Candle sponsors light two candles, which the bride and groom use to light a single candle to symbolize the joining of the two families and to invoke the light of Christ in their married life. Veil sponsors place a white veil over the bride's head and the groom's shoulders, a symbol of t wo people clothed as one. Cord sponsors drape the yugal (a decorative silk cord) in a figure-eight shape (to symbolize everlasting fidelity) over the shoulders of the bride and groom. The groom gives the bride 13 coins, or arrhae, blessed by the priest, as a sign of his dedication to his wife's well-being and the welfare of their future children.

Is a Filipina Wife right for you?

So you want a Filipina wife. Why?
Don't get me wrong, this is a great decision for many men, but is it right for you?

First and foremost you should toss away most of the rumors you grew up with. Those misperceptions of Filipina women just won’t help you find the right answer. Secondly, keep in mind that we are discussing an entire race of people and of course there are exceptions to every rule. Last but not least, accept that your success or failure will have to do more with your actions rather than those of any Filipina you meet.

Do Filipina women normally marry men 20 or 30 years older than them?

This is an interesting question with an answer that will surprise some readers. Statistically, Western men who venture out of our home country to seek a wife in the Philippines are above the age of 35. What makes them more desirable is that they are settled; they have a better than average income, a college education and most have been divorced once and are seeking a stable lasting life-long relationship. In fact, it’s often suggested that Filipinas actually prefer husbands who are many years their senior, because such men are perceived as more mature, less promiscuous, and financially stable.

Is it true that Filipinas possess a mysterious tribal lust that makes them bedroom dynamos?

The conflict here is obvious. Many western men in pursuit of a Filipina wife place a high regard on their future wife’s sexual innocence, yet are unwilling to accept the limitations that such virtue implies. Movies and war stories of the Japanese Geisha have formed the notion that Asian women have nothing else on their mind other than to please a man. Well, here’s the news: these stories are not indicative of Filipina women. Each and every Filipina you may meet is a woman, each with their own special quirks, preferences and personality and to generalize would be a huge mistake.

In reality many Filipinas have advanced degrees of education and professional lives. It could hardly be presumed that their only purpose in life is to fulfill some man's wildest dreams. What the Philippines does have is a huge emphasis on family and a successful marriage. A Filipina wife will be dedicated to this.

How are you with large families?

To the Filipina, family will always remain a great priority; and not just a family, but a large extended family. Many Filipinos still live in the extended family structure of 2 or 3 generations living under the same roof. Great respect for family elders is taught at an early age and in fact your eligibility as a perspective spouse may depend on your acceptance by her family.

And again – how are you with large families? And more specifically how many children do you want to have? Because Filipino women want big families with many children. It is like the culmination of everything they have been taught that provokes these maternal instincts. The desire to have children and family of their own is almost universal in the Philippines.

Are you religious?

There are three primary religions in the Philippines: 83% Roman Catholic, 9% Protestant and 5% Muslim. The odds are that she's more devoted to her religion than you are to yours, so be prepared for some soul-searching on this matter.

Are you marrying a Filipina because you pretty much hate the women of your own country?

You have to realize that hating an entire gender, even within the confines of a single country, just isn't reasonable. It's one thing to say that you believe that you'll have a greater chance of finding the woman you want in the Philippines, but it's quite another to say that all the woman from your own homeland are unworthy of marriage. If you're marrying a Filipina, it should be because of who she is, not who she is not.

And after all, a Filipino woman is still a woman, including all the variety of types of personality that that encompasses!

Are you a generous person?

The common spirit of survival has united the Filipinos for centuries and they are very generous to each other. Ancient folklore of the Philippines and the Philippine adaptation of Christian holidays often eulogize the rewards of the generous spirit. Now where Western society has great difficulty with this Filipino spirit of generosity is in the subject of remitting money to the Philippines.

Don’t get me wrong, I am most certainly NOT advocating you send money to any Filipina girl you meet over the internet. But should you be engaged to or married to a Filipina, you should be prepared to provide financial assistance to your new, extended family when they need it (for schooling, medical care, or food). If you are reluctant to accept your new wife's family as your own, your lack of generosity would certainly create some turmoil in your relationship.

You will intuitively know when you share your wife or fiance's family obligations and once having visited the Philippines you will fully understand the reasons this occurs.

So you still want a Filipina wife?

The best way to meet a Filipina is through another Filipina. Do you know any? If so, odds are she knows a Filipina girl in the Philippines who is open to foreign relationships. If you don't know any Filipinas, your next best bet is obviously a dating service. Choose a respectable one like FilipinoFriendFinder that offers free trials and start writing - not just to one girl, but several – in search of your best match. And here you are on your way. Hope this is of help to you. Good luck!
